Zelienople Area Public Library (ZAPL) presents…instructional guides for eResources! Yes! How great is this!

In hopes to aid your use and enjoyment of our digital offerings, we’ve come up with a few formats to further your eResource journey.

Guides In Text

We’ve also concocted some text-based instructions for Libby and OverDrive which can be accessed right here on the web. Both long and short versions are linked to below.

Here are the long, A-Z, illustrated, step-by-step documents for using Libby and/or OverDrive on Android or Apple devices:

Courtesy of our lovely friends at Cranberry Township Public Library, here is a guide for getting Kindle books sent to an older generation Kindle e-reader, Kindle tablet, or to the Kindle app on any smartphone or tablet. Step six and onwards from the second page of this guide are particularly relevant to all of the above scenarios.

Genealogy Research

The Zelienople Area Public Library has a multitude of genealogy resources at your service. So much so that it needs its own webpage to list them all. That page can be found here: https://zelienoplelibrary.org/genealogy/

To paint a quick picture of offerings however, it’s good to know that ZAPL provides access to MyHeritage via POWER LIBRARY, has a Genealogy club that meets monthly, and that we work with many local partners like the Zelienople Historical Society and Historic Harmony, Inc. to bring the community a vast resource bank for those exploring history and family histories.

Online Library Catalog

Search, browse, borrow, renew, hold, and more with the online library catalog. A version for kids is also available from the catalog homepage itself: http://bcfls.tlcdelivers.com/.

Online Newspapers

e-newspapers

Besides the physical newspapers received at the library itself (Butler Eagle, Wall St. Journal, etc.), Zelienople Area Public Library (ZAPL) also has access to many well-read news outlets online. Once again from the Power Library, ZAPL receives access to the databases for the AP Newsroom and to Gale General OneFile. Gale’s OneFile is particularly nice because it includes full text articles from major newspapers across the United States and around the world, including of course Pittsburgh.

A note of caution however, not every newspaper from OneFile is held to the current date, one notable example of this is the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which does not supply issues from the past three years.
