A New Building

The Zelienople Area Public Library is happy to announce that we are seeking to expand the library! Over the past 100 years, the Library has evolved from a single room operation to what it is today. With the projected continued growth in population in the southern Butler County region, now is a great time to evolve into our next iteration.

Capital Campaign Questions:

Why is the library raising these funds?

The funds collected through the capital campaign will be used to build a much needed addition to the library. This will include a small parking lot and a single-story addition to the south side of the building. As a part of this plan, the Jennifer Adham Children’s Library moves above ground, a large multipurpose programming room and a small meeting room will be added, an ADA compliant restroom with a changing table for families will be built on the main floor, and many more comfortable reading nooks and quiet work spaces for the community are to be created as well as reopening the loft area of the current building back to public use.

What are the benefits of this plan?

With the proposed layout, there comes a large number of benefits for the community. Some of these benefits include:

  • The Jennifer Adham Children’s Library is relocated to ground level for easy access
  • New accessible accommodations will be made possible by this plan, including restroom facilities
  • A new large programming room that will allow for a wider variety of programs and events
  • A new enclosed small group meeting space for community members use
  • Additional seating and computer station spaces for community members seeking quiet working spaces
  • The loft of the current building will be reopened to the public as a comfortable seating/reading area
  • Our main floor Circulationdesk will be smaller and more streamlined
  • Our current staff work area at the entrance will be transformed into a comfortable seating and computer stations
  • Lower level will be new staff offices and 1/2 of space will be transformed into rentable office space (creating a revenue stream for the Library going forward).
