Zelienople / Harmony Print Series
Local artist, Diane Smith, has released the seventh limited edition print in her Harmony / Zelienople series. “The Old Shever Hardware Store” is a tribute to the iconic building on Mercer Street in Harmony.
The Shever Hardware store started as the “Harmony Hardware” store in the early 1900’s. Ed Shever, the owner, renamed the store to Shever Brothers Hardware store around 1920 since his brothers, Harry and Herbert, also worked at the store.
The first prints in the Harmony / Zelienople series were entitled, “The Santa House”, “Fourth of July Parade”, “Halloween in Harmony”, “Summer Morn in Harmony”, “Main Street Christmas”, and “Spring Season Opener”. Smith also did a print to commemorate the re-opening of the Strand Theater called, “Opening Night”. Smith is a long-time member of the Zelienople Area Public Library’s book club named “The Bookie’s,” and Smith previously created a print illustrating the Library’s building on South High Street.
The “Old Shever Hardware Store” is a limited edition of 200 prints. All prints are signed and available in two sizes: 8 x 10 for $100 or 11 x 14 for $125. Orders can be placed at the Library. Other prints in the series will also be available at the Library. A portion of the sale benefits the Library.
